Lovely to see so much in its natural environments too. Such unusual flowers, and that darter didn't mind you getting a few shots! 😊 thanks for sharing. xAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17627071549333213051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9123223083011383806.post-78744428968116110882015-06-10T09:02:36.207+01:002015-06-10T09:02:36.207+01:00Thanks very much Greg – it was a fascinating place...Thanks very much Greg – it was a fascinating place to visit, and in certain places really quite strange to walk (or jump up and down which the site manager had us all doing like big kids!). Great to see the White-faced Darter at last – I knew they were small but they were even smaller than I’d expected, in contrast to the longhorn beetle that was much bigger than other types I’ve seen previously! :) Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06807774858218701038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9123223083011383806.post-23337393919293571712015-06-08T02:39:33.061+01:002015-06-08T02:39:33.061+01:00Very interesting read, Jan. The Chartley Moss NNR ...Very interesting read, Jan. The Chartley Moss NNR sounds like an unusual and unique place in that it floats upon an underground lake. I can imagine walking out on it could feel quite strange. Happy that you were able to see and photograph a White-faced Darter; beautiful capture of her, as were those of the Longhorn Beetle and Alderfly. And lovely closeups of the Wild Cranberry and Sundew. I have always been intrigued by insectivorous plants. It is an astounding and wonderful nature. Thanks for sharing these images and telling us about this place!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08551723824825311576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9123223083011383806.post-11807076609292226362015-06-06T08:46:10.539+01:002015-06-06T08:46:10.539+01:00Thanks Dougie - fingers crossed, and it's such...Thanks Dougie - fingers crossed, and it's such a unique environment it would be good to go again, though with such limited options for visiting it's entirely down to luck how the weather plays out! There is an accessible reserve fairly close where these pretty darters have been reintroduced so I will try there soon - watch this space...! ;) Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06807774858218701038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9123223083011383806.post-7942554090761351142015-06-05T00:28:22.722+01:002015-06-05T00:28:22.722+01:00That sounds like a great place, hopefully you'...That sounds like a great place, hopefully you'll get better weather on your next visit.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05090221878231085845noreply@blogger.com
